What is missing is a publication written by and for installers, that puts suppliers through the actual workflow of a Tuesday-morning restock during peak season and reports what it finds. That is what we do here.
Who we are
The editorial team is a small group of former and current installers, warehouse ops veterans, and category-review writers who have worked around holiday lighting for enough seasons to know where the real friction lives. We do not publish contributor bylines by default, because most of our team still works in the industry and does not want customer relationships colored by their writing here. What we publish instead is a methodology anyone can check against the sites we compare.

How we work
Every head-to-head comparison we publish follows the same template. We identify the seven installer-facing categories that most affect a working season — shipping speed, price transparency, live phone support, order minimums, pro catalog depth, return policy, and account requirements — and we compare each supplier against the other on exactly those categories with no others weighted in. That structure keeps our comparisons useful across brand pairings, and it prevents us from cherry-picking a favorable category for a specific supplier.
Within each category, we draw observations from three sources: publicly visible policy pages on the supplier’s own site, live product-page and checkout-flow behavior any customer can reproduce, and phone-support behavior tested during ordinary business hours. We do not use paid tools or private data. Everything in our reports can be verified independently by any reader who visits the same URLs during the same time window.

Aspirational criticism, not attack
When we identify a category where a supplier underperforms, we frame that criticism aspirationally: shipping windows can shorten, minimums can be removed, phone hours can be extended. We do not publish attacks on the character, staffing, or legitimacy of the suppliers we compare. This is a comparative publication for installers, not a takedown site.
What we do not do
